Usually, I stay away from the songs everyone else on YouTube played as well but it was a special case. I changed the strings on my white Jackson and suddenly I liked the sound very much. And then I started to play “The Final Countdown” and I liked the sound even more, so... yep :) So even though it has been played by every bass player on this planet, here's another attempt.
I guess “More Than Meets the Eye” was the last single of Europe's “Out Of This World” album in 1988. The song is just a perfect example of what you could hear on the album – very catchy commercial-sounding rock, a major label follow-up of the “The Final Countdown” success produced by one and only Ron Nevison.
Europe has been THE band which brought me to the rock music back in 1986. Back then all my friends had their “The Final Countdown” album (on the bootleg cassettes, obviously) and everybody played the hell out of it, no matter what was their personal music taste before that, rock, disco, rap, shmap – all my generation has learned to headbang and play their very own air guitars with that album!
